Rail Line 6 Plan

So a new rail line plan is:

Spawntown Central Station
Horse Island
Kaktice Outpost
Kaktoquake Cliff
Aahrus
Capital

and from here it branches off to

Mauritius station 1 (360 , 50 , -660) along z axis
Mauritius station 2 (280 , 50 , -740) along z axis
Timbalta (200 , 50 , -1100) along z axis

Total distance roughly estimated to 1620 meters, which would be 162 boosters and 3078 rails, which would cost 1158 iron and 162 gold.
I'll probably make an UBSR poll for this, but feel free to discuss the line now.

Just putting this out there that this is essentially a waste of resources. Tuto said he would be ok with just modifying the rail that runs Aahrus-Desertopia so that he has a station on it. This rail ends 5 blocks from Rail Route 5 and transferring is absolutely no problem. The route he would take is nearly the exact same as previous infrastructure, with only the addition of a station in Timbalta and another one in Mauritius.



As far as the claim that we will need it to expand to any future members in that area is also false. Because of Welptopia and Vatallus, there is no one but kipz for a good thousand blocks north or east of him. Rail Route 5 is much much closer to unclaimed territory.

Not saying we shouldn't do this, but there is a much cheaper alternative that is basically the same. This is though, the most expensive rail related poll in the Blacraft Voting Centre so we need some criticism.

I see - I have no idea where your GLRs run, only where the tunnels run, so that would've been useful to know when we walked around in the area and planned the rails a few days ago. Anyway looking at that I can easily agree that it is a waste of resources.

Anyway, an alternative could be this. We could let it go through the ocean instead of through Capital and still have a station in western Mauritius, or it could follow Azecliff's coast and go below the island there. That [cyan] would shorten the route 420 meters.



We could also consider replacing the GLR with an actual tunnel, from Desertopia through Timbalta to Capital, because the route itself fits very well into the web plan.

I think letting the line go through for example Welptopia and Vatallus in the future could be a good idea, there are also interesting places worth connecting.

In the end I think the best would be if we expanded the tunnels to connect all of Blacraft according to the web plan. Local elevated rails or GLR are ok, but I think the rail system would be best if it were kept as simple and consistent as possible and not make too many different systems. The Nether is by far the cheapest alternative, so if we just wanted fast and cheap transport we could just set up a portal in Timbalta and make a road or rail from there to Capital and Spawntown.

I guess I'll cancel the poll on the current plan later today then. I'd wish this had been posted before I had made the poll.

The poll closes in about 27 hours, and currently I and smjjames have votes for, while none have voted against. I'll close it now.

Please provide feedback on the alternative proposal I made above so the situation doesn't repeat.
