Blacraft General / Re: Collective Storages
« on: 2013 06 23, 17:56:19 »
The reason Blacraft has been so inactive is because no one is playing it. I personally have no time to play it, despite interest in playing. :P Other people are just bored and what's the point of playing if no one else is on?

As far as collective storages go; yeah I have gotten really lazy with updating lately. I haven't played enough to change the amount of resources in there much, but enough that I've taken out maybe a dozen iron ingots and not counted it. I agree with doing it monthly personally, I doubt many people would forget. I like the idea of a safe buffer as well. Good excuse for another building. :P Unfortunately for me that would increase my different storage buildings in Capital up to 5 from the current 4. As far as the private economy goes, I am not too bothered either way.

Blacraft General / Re: Idea: Inactive Regions
« on: 2013 06 23, 17:51:05 »
The idea is to be more or less anarchy. While we could have someone assign plots to people, assign plots for maybe a trading market type of thing, assign plots to automatic farms and other services. I'd like it better if people had no limit on what they could do with their plot pending it does not damage other people's plots.

As far as making rules as to which regions go inactive, I don't think we've lost contact with most people who have the regions close to spawn. We could probably ask people if necessary, or allow a 12 month grace period of not logging onto the server? This would allow people like Naru, Quontex and deoxy who occasionally play to have their regions, but not people who have abandoned it entirely. I know we could probably contact Naru and maybe get his unused municipalities near spawn in Chazabethia. Earthquake Forest, parts of Quonbla and Novascotchara could be another option.

The site of Darvice's spawntown replacement would probably be best for it though. It's been inactive for many years now, and no one has any reason to develop it anymore. It's already flattened and pretty close to spawntown. Neighbouring municipality Foressia is also pretty desolate and unused.

Blacraft General / Idea: Inactive Regions
« on: 2013 06 22, 01:28:37 »
The inactive regions around Spawntown have been adding up quickly. The idea is: convert some regions close together into a community region with developed plots for everyone? Spawntown is so Bla, what is the fun in that? Why not convert a region close to spawn into a glorious region where everyone can get a few decent sized plots and we can have a true spawntown community there.

Just an idea. :P

I was bored and decided to go caving, I encountered like no mobs. Not sure if this is normal. :P

Only got hit twice by skeletons. :D Feel so pro, but I guess there were no mobs.

Temporary Worlds / Re: FTB Temporary Map!
« on: 2013 05 29, 03:04:19 »
Right so, I think the temporary FTB map is done. An update happened and the server and map broke. While the server can be fixed, the map cannot easily, so I figure that we might as well go back to vanilla and either bring back FTB once 1.6 comes out while we wait for 1.6 Bukkit or just do something else then.

Temporary Worlds / FTB Temporary Map!
« on: 2013 05 08, 02:52:20 »
Yeah I know the poll only went up a few hours ago, but the opposition seems minor and I won't have time in the next few days to set it up. Besides, it will be a great change from vanilla for a change and if necessary I have a backup and copy of all the dimensions.

Welcome to Blacraft FTB! MindCrack modpack.

To get into FTB:
Download the .jar file here
Load the .jar file and select a directory for the FTB files.
Go under modpacks and select "MindCrack" for version 1.4.7.
Log into your usual Minecraft account at the bottom right corner.
Download the modpack and wait for the game to load.
You'll have to re-add the Blacraft server. The IP is: 85.236.109.31:29565
Welcome!

Protip:

You will want to make sure that Not Enough Items is enabled for sure. Press the "O" key to make it on by default.

http://feed-the-beast.wikia.com/wiki/Feed_The_Beast_Wiki - Use the wiki!

I will be open to mod changes if they sound beneficial overall.  Also, I may have to do a map update if something goes wrong or there is a big mod change. I'll try to give more notice than what happened here today for that. :P

RULE CHANGES
As I mentioned before, in FTB you can easily crash the server. I will ban people who crash the server regularly and repeatably!
Lag will be a big problem, so minimize the chunk loaders and anything else that is server heavy. Having thousands of entities loaded will cause lag, and multiple offenses of this will get you banned!
Don't go to crazy and try to do some research on CPU intensive things.

Have fun!

Bla has given me the approval to start it up! If you have an opinion, then I guess say it here. I'll probably look into setting it up sometime in the next 2 days. We'll have this going until 1.6 is out on Bukkit.

Some information:
http://feed-the-beast.com/ - Official mod pack site
http://feed-the-beast.wikia.com/wiki/Feed_The_Beast_Wiki - Unofficial wiki (a lot of useful information)

We'd probably be going with the MindCrack modpack, mostly because it is the one designed for larger servers and has a bunch of fool proof and lagbusting mods.

The biggest question is - GregTech?
Basically it is IC2 on steroids. It makes all the IC2 recipes harder and more expensive, however also adds a whole ton of depth to the mod. The debate is pretty big, but in FTB there are so many ways to get materials, that I see no reason why to not have it on.

I will also implement one rule - In FTB you can have chunk loaders and machines that easily produce thousands of entities, which will kill the server. Multiple offenses of this WILL RESULT in a ban UNTIL the FTB server is done! Do your research before you kill the server!

Blacraft General / Re: Netherrail Ideas?
« on: 2013 04 30, 19:24:29 »
not to spoil the idea but this just came to mind

http://xkcd.com/1205/

if there is one ride to spawntown per day (and i think one per week is more accurate)

the distance can be estimated at 1600m (desertopia is 1km, kaeshar a bit farther, aeridani too).
that is 200 m by nether

sprint is a bit over 5m/s, rail is 8m/s
40 seconds vs 25 seconds
15 seconds saved, and probably less because of minecart getting on and off

so it is worth around 2-12 hours (5 hours geometric mean) to build the netherrail and stations and move portals and dig tunnels
else you should just walk :)

and this assumes blacraft continues at this activity rate for five years

I was never actually going to make the rails, just make it so that if you want to put in rails you can. I just want a ghast proof way to travel. :P

Enderman EXP farm is done after weeks of slowly working on it every now and then!

111
Blacraft General / Re: Projects
« on: 2013 04 10, 00:27:35 »
The enderman exp farm is nearing the point where I can make the cost estimate for it, so here it goes.

About 9 stacks of logs (2300 wooden planks)
About 1.5 large chests of cobble (5000 cobblestone)
About 3 stacks of coal to make stone and torches (180 coal)
About 18 stacks of redstone (1200 redstone)
238 iron
238 slimeballs
About 100 cobweb

This does not include the costs for the interior design, enchantment table, anvil and rail line.

Ok I'm including the nether quartz ores in the nether quartz count from now on.
The reason I didn't was the same as for coal ore, because people are using it for decoration/different purposes than the actual coal items. But I'm including the quartz ore from now on.

Some people use iron blocks for decoration, so we shouldn't include those.

Not sure why you added nether quartz ore but not other ore? :P

^ We'll do the above then. :P Bla you should probably make the netherrail station in the nether for the sake of you doing it and not me doing something you hate and rebuilding it anyways.

Rail line ideas:
Spawntown - Oasis City - Chromasheep Farm - Amazonis
Spawntown - Revolt City
Spawntown - Desertopia - Guodesia/Forssa maybe?
Spawntown - Matolony - Mystic Marsh
Spawntown - Capital - Mojikit Stronghold + Vrus - Kinar/Nunatriche
Spawntown - Swamphold - Darvwnse-a - Blaze Farm (some order of this, can't say for sure)

Any complaints or ideas can go here

Blacraft General / Netherrail Ideas?
« on: 2013 03 26, 15:43:58 »
Bla said that netherrail would be fine if we had a legit plan set for building them. :P

Somewhere between y=115 and y=125 is necessary. y=120 is best (y=125 is too close to bedrock I think).

Should we do the wasteful 3x3 track layout like the overworld? Or just a single track set up?
Netherack isn't super strong, enforce the walls or at least tracks in cobble or something else?
Same redstone torch positioning as the overworld system?
Also follows a multiple of 20 on the x/z axis like the overworld system?

We should move all the portals up to y=120, or atleast all the ones that should be connected by the new system.
A nether hub type of thing could also be built to accommodate this in an easier way than the overworld equivalent, Spawntown station.

This is just a proposal for now, work will probably commence sometime after the ender dragon destruction if approved.

Saturday, March 30th at 18:00GMT (2pm EDT) it is then! Unless someone else has a different idea, I'm still open. :P

Swamphold or Mojikit Stronghold?

Mojikit Stronghold isn't ready yet so if there is a demand to have it there I'll have it done for Saturday.

Benefits to Swamphold: it's actually built up and ready for this. :P
Benefits to Mojikit Stronghold: Rail Route 5 goes there already and a nether portal is going to be set up. Mojikit Stronghold is also like 100 blocks closer to spawn.

Seems reasonable, but would you be able to edit only the books you signed yourself, or also other books?

Alright, I am finalizing the plugin changes for 1.5.

DeathChests requires a permission plugin (PermissionsBukkit), so I set it up. LWC has its own permissions, so for now it is only used for Essentials and DeathChests. (operators have access to all commands still)

I'm sure I got all the commands which are useful in Essentials, if anyone has any complaint about a command not being here, tell me.
- afk command
- getpos command (of yourself not others)
- ignore command (maybe?)
- compass command
- book command? (bla?) it allows opening and resealing written books
- itemdb command
- list command
- motd command (viewing, not changing)
- msg command
- realname command
- suicide command
- whois command

I still can't get EssenialsChat fixed.  >:(

Blacraft General / Re: Plugin Changes for 1.5
« on: 2013 03 18, 12:21:53 »
But being able to fly and having infinite life is also using for all sorts of things. But it removes the challenge from the game. I think deathchests are a very bad idea to be honest. I don't remember what I said about it though. If we're going to use them, the items could go to some special storage that only admins could access, and people could request their items back if they lost them because of a bug. Idk.

Maybe if the deathchests are placed in a sufficiently annoying location, it will outweigh the reward. If we made some sort of lava parkour track people would have to go through every time kol. Then again they could also just dirt pillar I guess. Maybe an obsidian maze. And people could get banned for destroying blocks in the area or something. Idk. Discuss.

It is possible for an admin to set up deathchests in a certain location and not allow someone else to move them. The idea behind it is that bukkit 1.5 is incredibly buggy (I already spawned underground yesterday) and this will simply solve the problem of having to respawn items everyday. I know you don't like the idea, but you also won't be the person who will have to respawn the items.

133
Blacraft General / Re: Plugin Changes for 1.5
« on: 2013 03 18, 02:44:17 »
Yeah a public deathchest would be reasonable, but what if you die and respawn in wherever you set the home bed, but the stuff ends up in the public chest which is in Spawntown. Or am I misunderstanding it a bit?

Alternatively, instead of (or in addition to) putting a chest that says ______ Deathchest, you can set it up to spawn a chest or a sign on death.

You are misunderstanding it. I can set up deathchests to require that a chest be registered to LWC before it can become a deathchest, or not.

134
Blacraft General / Re: Plugin Changes for 1.5
« on: 2013 03 18, 01:50:51 »
Well I have tested all the plugins and results:

Rolling minecarts is completely broken, I'll look into smjjames' options that he posted above.
cmagnet doesn't work for trapped chests (yet, I'm assuming they'll add that functionality).
If you don't set a deathchest you'll get spammed with a "no room in death chest" error when you die.

Everything else should work perfectly fine. I tested on the temporary server and I won't reverted it back to vanilla, so if you want to try out something go ahead.

Just a minor option for deathchests (if we do use them), should I have it set so that it links with LWC? ie to make a death chest you'll either need to public lock it or private lock it. Without this feature on it is as easy as what I said in the original post.

Blacraft General / Re: Plugin Changes for 1.5
« on: 2013 03 17, 22:26:01 »
i agree with Bla... you wouldn't lose ANYTHING right? that would suck, like losing stuff here and then is okay

The only reason I want to add it is because of all the bugginess that happens during a new minecraft version. In 1.4 there was like a solid 2 months where daily people died to bugs, I don't want to deal with respawning all that stuff. It's totally optional, if people think it is unlegit, don't use it. Simple.

Blacraft General / Plugin Changes for 1.5
« on: 2013 03 17, 20:14:52 »
Bla has "pluginphobia" and the state of Blacraft plugins has been pretty outdated, especially lately. So I've spent some time going over every plugin and updating everything.

Only LWC has been updated for 1.5, so everything here might change if I find certain plugins to not work. I'll take the temp server down tonight and try out some plugin stuff before making the server live. I'll update the below list with my findings.

Notable changes:

1. TNT can now destroy blocks
2. You can't (some bugs still) place hoppers near a protected chest
3. Endermen griefing should be resolved
4. CHdistantfarm unofficial update for potatoes and carrots
5. Death chests (more info below)

Problems:
1. Rolling minecarts broke. Storage minecarts no longer travel 30 blocks and keep chunks loaded.

Death Chests
Assuming that it works in 1.5, here is quick guide to the death chest plugin:
1. Make a chest.
2. Put a sign above the chest.
3. You must type "deathchest" on any line of the sign
4. Die

1.5 overworld cropping ideas:

Everything should be fine other than kipz's branch mine which is at the edge of the red lines. If he didn't want it maybe cropped he would've built it somewhere more reasonable :P

Nether:

Everything should be fine other than the fact I have no clue where the molten portal goes to in the nether.

Did someone take stuff from my chests between when I was on last night and this morning? Because I'm missing at least a stack of redstone and four diamonds.

I was having some kind of inventory glitch with the diamonds when I logged out last night to fix it (but didn't log back in), so I could have lost them due to the glitch.

I don't care that much about the redstone (you could have just asked), but I do want the diamonds back.

Edit while typing: Wait a minute, my gold bars and the ore is gone, could someone check the full log of interactions with that chest?

It's fully vanilla, there is no log plugins. I can give you the stuff back, but if you want any punishment or anything you'll have to investigate further. Also, hide your valuables. :P

1.5 will be released tomorrow it seems. (hasn't been delayed yet)

I'll be busy quite a bit tomorrow visiting family, so I'll set up a temporary 1.5 map when I get back here tomorrow night. Assuming I figure out how to. :P I dunno if Bla wants to do map cropping, if no I'll do it for both the nether and the overworld. I'll make maps of areas that I will crop so if you guys have any complaints tell me then. I'll also do new political and isometric maps.

Then once Bukkit 1.5 is out I'll probably shut off the server for a bit so I can update all the plugins and make some changes, this depends though. Bukkit took weeks to update for 1.4 and I only have a few days of free-time to actually do the plugin changes. :P

Apparently, I haven't been active for months after all, but yes, someone else must be sitting with quite a pile of cobble. Or related things.

* Bla suspiciously glances at vh's 30k stone!

There was a rush of taking cobblestone from spawntown before it ran out. I think almost everyone did it to some extent, I took 3 small chests worth to use on roads back in early December, all of the excess cobble that I had from then has since been taken from my public storage.
