Blacraft General / Re: Collective Storages
« on: 2013 02 03, 20:24:21 »
There really is no point quarrying for stone if you are going for sand and sandstone. Yes, cobblestone is a byproduct of a sandstone quarry if you do it the quick and cheaty way. Nonetheless, in the amount of time it takes to get a few stacks of sandstone, you'd likely get 10-30 diamonds and a chest of cobblestone branch mining.

Spawntown ran out of cobblestone a while back so I opened up my small cobblestone reserve for people to use. After a month or so of 2 people taking nearly non-stop I am basically out. Can we add cobblestone to the collective storage? Or am I going to have to smelt all of mine to save the little reserve I have left.

People are too lazy to simply get a pickaxe and mine a bit. It's saddening.

Having worked as an admin/moderator on many sites, the whole "I have mental health issues you have to like me" excuse is not actually legit. I have met well respected and responsible members of communities that have autism, ADHD and etc. Some of them are respected enough to be admins or moderators as well. I don't disagree that you have ADHD and at your age it may be hard for you to control it like an older member would.

Bla seems to be convinced that we should unban you just from that statement. I'm not sure about European/Denmark healthcare policies, but even if bong was to be diagnosed by a doctor for having ADHD, still doesn't mean he actually has it. It's more or less an easy way for doctors to explain odd behaviour. An unrelated rant, but doing this unfortunately has awful consequences for the child in the future since he is labeled as having a mental disorder. Doctors here try everything to diagnose people with mental disorders just to get the parents to shut up basically. This is also a good money grab for nations that have backward healthcare policies. :P

It's easier than trying to get to the end and kill the enderdragon in SP survival.

Ok, I don't know if people have been active recently, but if that's all people have been doing then you can do a rollback to get B-ong's "Soviet Japan" removed.

Kinar is the new region you wanted to found east of your current regions?

B-ong, what do you have to say in defense?

I'll take it down manually, and yeah Kinar is part of my recent additions.

Bla wants me to post my reasoning behind the ban.

Basically, yesterday I found my region Kinar to have been "Soviet Japan" griefed. I checked the logs and it was done by bon-g. I banned him for a week.

To be honest, if I wasn't afraid of the blaist reaction the week ban would easily be a permanent one.

161
Actually, you were using the disputed territory as an excuse to boss stuffhappens around. I approved Soviet Japan because stuffhappens is a good friend and doesn't deserve your harsh treatment.

Secondly give me any evidence that Kinar is disputed territory.

I can not go in July or August. Maybe August, definitely not July. I am going to Europe for the first 2 weekends and then we are staying in Toronto to visit family for a week.

June works and I could probably work my way around getting a weekend free in August. Anything before or after June-August is ok with me though.

Is there a specific reason why you included some jungle in Hidir? I would guess, since you already have a large jungle biome, to let someone else have that area in the future maybe, and expand in other directions. But in the end I don't have a big problem with it if you really want the jungle.

Having the river as the border looks better (dunno if you can tell under the white line), if you want my border to end at the jungle that is ok though.

As far as nether cropping goes, I'm guessing we will keep with the overworld policy of just cropping places that have development. It's hard to tell in the nether though which is why I previously just said to crop a 1600 by 1600square because nothing will be built outside of it. As far as fully deleting the nether goes, no that is not an option (just a reminder to Bla since I've heard of horror stories of him deleting the nether).

319 diamonds.

Silly Yqt kol. But will they be included in collective storage statistics? I guess not, if it's meant to be permanent it shouldn't. But building stuff with diamond blocks could be a nice way to store them. However our statistics won't work properly if people take out their gold, diamonds and iron to build temporary things and excluding them from the statistics.

You realize the two diamond blocks in the town center btw? Kol.

Nah I took it down right after the picture. Also..!!!!!! Give me a few more days. :P

Dispensers are tricky in the sense that they need a redstone pulse to activate. An option is to invert the lever signal, not sure if this will work perfectly. Another one I tested with last night is to have a double pulsing clock attached to the lever.

Not sure if the new dropper blocks behave similarly though.

And yeah, the crushing lever at the blaze farm is completely unnecessary and should be a button. :P I'll change that if the redstone breaks in 1.5.

As for leaving UBSR, my point wasn't that people should leave UBSR because I don't like the idea of them having states which are nothing but name tags on a map. The point was for them to become full UBSR members instead, so we can have a big, unified socialist society on Blacraft to cooperate and have fun, which we all take part in managing for our collective good. If people absolutely need to have name-tag-states I still prefer that over many simply isolated single-player-like states around Blacraft. But I would have hoped that the region and municipality options would be enough for people, which I see nothing wrong in being managed by single players. I would have liked to see the states correspond more to the political reality of Blacraft, and be used in more clan-like-ways.

The reason why I am in the UBSR (tied economically, not a full member in the first place) is because I want to help for the greater server projects. Multiple people have told me and I am convinced that I could easily live and survive on my own as the UYP. I feel like it's more of an economic agreement we have, and I just choose to follow other rules on what I want (underground UBSR rail system for example, although I fund all domestic rail lines myself). My whole goal with the UYP is just to have an independent empire, a union of provinces represented as regions, to represent a vast "multicultural" empire. I'm not trying to be a state tag and leech off of the UBSR resources at the same time.

These lands will likely conclude UYP annexation for a while (last biome I don't have is gained, desert).

Also, if Bla wants I'll leave the UBSR. :P

we should make the island public imo, but with limitations how large something can be built as the island is not that big

It's a very tiny island. We don't know if we'll have to make something on it eventually anyways. I have to agree with the making it public idea, some exceptions can be given to build on it, but the majority of the island should be left untouched for the future.

Also smjjames, that's the total amount of end stone in the island, taken from cartograph g.

I would like to remind everyone that I bumped this thread to get a day set to kill the ender dragon, not start land disputes.

I'd like to get the End discussion going again. I'm probably not the only person here who's favourite dimension is the end and would do anything to get blacraft into it.

I'd still like to see it happen sometime in March. The 2 Saturdays in march that as far as I can tell work well for everyone is the 23rd and the 30th. It's likely that I'll spend the remainder of the weekend building an enderman exp farm, so the earlier the date is,  the sooner fast exp is. :P

625 seems way too far away imo. Also I don't see any reason to crop a square except if it's because of laziness. Walking 625 meters in the nether is also much harder than in the overworld.

It's just because there won't be any portals or much else outside of that radius. I'm not sure if there is any other ideas on how to crop the nether.  A lot can easily be hidden in the nether so we should be cautious.

Blacraft General / Re: 1.5 "Redstone Update"
« on: 2013 01 05, 22:06:51 »
I think cropping everything that is outside of a square that is -625 to 625 from spawn should cover basically everything. 625 as a coordinate in the nether is 5000 in the overworld, and nothing is built outside of that radius in the overworld which would cover all of the portals.

Bla went to bed like 2 minutes before I got this question.

As far as mapping the nether goes, we have 2 options, have netherrack, bedrock and flowing&still lava not shown. Or just render the 50-75 y coordinates which encompasses a decent percentage of what has actually been built in the nether. Which is preferred?

Without bedrock, netherrack and lava:

Layers 50-75 (maybe change them a bit?)

They are both centered on the blaze farm nether fortress.

181
Blacraft General / Re: 1.5 "Redstone Update"
« on: 2013 01 04, 20:28:53 »
Netherrail will have to wait until 1.5 is out (to see the full changes of the update), and then once it is out I'll create a thread for it (pending Bla's approval).

Also I'll do some mapping today I guess.

Blacraft General / Re: 1.5 "Redstone Update"
« on: 2013 01 04, 20:07:54 »
There may also be some changes in torch strength (in the snapshot), but I'm not sure if that's because of a bug or something.

It seemed to be about as common as iron (or maybe somewhere between iron and coal in abundance) and it appears in large clusters like coal does.

For the cropping the nether, I'd be all for cropping it. Without a map of the nether, it's hard to know for sure whether a chunk is newly generated unless we go like 500+ blocks from spawntown portal.

As far as the rail system goes, it's going to be a major project to 'industrialize' our rail systems and our mines. The main passenger rail system will be the priority though.

The rail changes are unknown right now so I don't feel like planning for it right now is much of a priority. :P

Blacraft General / 1.5 "Redstone Update"
« on: 2013 01 04, 19:23:25 »
We should get a thread up for changes that will be necessary server wide.

Only the first snapshot is out and most redstone contraptions will still work, however a lot of changes can be made to improve the designs of some of them. (mostly replacing the old BUD daylight detectors with actual daylight detectors)

Nether quartz is a big change though. It's a new nether ore that is pretty common in newly generated chunks, that is the problem though. Do we crop the nether like the overworld or do we just make people walk out pretty far to new chunks? Another very Blacraft problem, would this ore be an ore to store in collective storages?

Rail route 5, once the shortest route and still the newest rail route, has been extended. Originally built as an intra-Kaktoland line to connect Hellpotatoe's "KaktoCity" to Spawn, now ends in the heart of Kaministiquia at one of the maps 3 strongholds, Mojikit Stronghold.

Mojikit Stronghold is 650 blocks from Spawntown, meaning that rail route 5 has been expanded roughly 450m since I joined the server in early October.

Can you continusly harvest?

Birch trees yes. Oak trees grow slower because of the height limits, but still enough that you'd have 5-10 after chopping down the birch forest. Spruce trees take many more tries to grow since I limit their height quite a bit. Sometimes not even all the trees have grown in the farm when I cut them down, even after a few days.

Blacraft General / Re: Projects
« on: 2012 12 29, 05:03:37 »
Not a big project that took much more than an hour.

Nearly tripled the size of my tree farm:

Birch logs per harvest:
3 stacks and 10 logs up from 1 stack and 45 logs.
Spruce logs per harvest:
2 stacks and 10 logs (biased low because to some trees weren't grown and some logs despawned) up from 1 stack and 5 logs.
Oak logs per harvest:
2 stacks and 35 logs up from 1 stack and 30 logs.

Took 30 minutes to harvest everything and 3 iron axes.

Bla seems to have a schedule that is closer to the US so, any time on his breaks are ok with me.

My March break is March 18th to March 24. I know I'm going to Toronto for a surgery sometime during this.
My summer vacation is June 26ish (not sure when exams end) to September 10th, I know I'm likely going to Europe for a week or so and then we do our usual camping for a few weeks at a time during the summer.

Some weekend in June would be good, or a weekend on Bla's March break. Personally, I'd be ok with missing school for it too. :P
