I think it would be a good idea.

The bit about inactive regions should be clarified that inactive would mean inactive for many months or basically left alltogether.

I never said it had to be on the same tool.

IMO, it would just be better to fortune pick the ore when you can do it safely. Then again, silk touching the ore allows you to pack more of it into inventory.

Note: Nether quartz ore blocks can only be mined with a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch.

http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Nether_Quartz_Ore
History Section

This will make it a lot harder to get, as it's a lot more risky with all the lava and stuff. Unless you have fire protection, then the nether is as easy as cake.

No duh, like every other ore block.

Yeah, having armor with fire protection would be a very good idea.  Also, you can still use an iron or diamond pickaxe. Its recommended that you have a fortune 3 pick though.

Bla if this glitch is not updated, don't update Blacraft.

^Yqt1001's experiments, credit to him not me^

It's a snapshot, Bla's not going to update the server to a snapshot version.

Besides, I can guarantee you that Mojang wiill try to get rid of that bug since it's gamebreaking for everybody who plays MC, not just blacraft.

As for the map, while the second one looks better, the first one is way more informative. I'd say use the first one because most of the infrastructure is hidden in the second. It took a moment for me to recognize where things were.

With cropping, maybe crop as close to the major structures and paths as possible, or as close as Bla or Yqt feels comfortable with.

Also, theres some portals and stuff that I don't see, such as other peoples portals and I don't know if you can see chests on there.

Crystalline caves, wait, where did you get that idea? You mean the quartz? It doesn't look all that awesome in-game, but can be fixed by a texture pack.

You didn't hear about it? Idk i read it somewhere.

Could you please link the source?

I did see a plugin for bukkit that is the same thing as a printing press. Maybe that will do the trick?

about the nether: map before cropping at all

rail system: if high speed rails are a thing i would find it wasteful to spend it on tens of kilometers of aboveground track when it could have its speed increased 8-fold and use 8 times less material in the nether, so i think we should develop a netherrail in anycase (although for now, netherwalking is fine because 5.6km/s isn't much slower than 8 km/s

I agree with mapping since without a map, we don't know where to crop.

As for the rails, lets just see what else is released for the rail system revamp, it's too early to really make any decisions about it.

Yeah, I know they're unknown, but the passenger rails are likely the first thing we'd want to re-engineer (outside of our own local minecart systems.

The spawntown cargo rail system at the depots though is going to have to be completely uprooted and redesigned.

Blacraft General / Re: 1.5 "Redstone Update"

There may also be some changes in torch strength (in the snapshot), but I'm not sure if that's because of a bug or something.

We should get a thread up for changes that will be necessary server wide.

Only the first snapshot is out and most redstone contraptions will still work, however a lot of changes can be made to improve the designs of some of them. (mostly replacing the old BUD daylight detectors with actual daylight detectors)

Nether quartz is a big change though. It's a new nether ore that is pretty common in newly generated chunks, that is the problem though. Do we crop the nether like the overworld or do we just make people walk out pretty far to new chunks? Another very Blacraft problem, would this ore be an ore to store in collective storages?

It seemed to be about as common as iron (or maybe somewhere between iron and coal in abundance) and it appears in large clusters like coal does. With a fortune 3 pick, I got 26 or so out of a cluster of 8 or 10, which is pretty good.

For the cropping the nether, I'd be all for cropping it. Without a map of the nether, it's hard to know for sure whether a chunk is newly generated unless we go like 500+ blocks from spawntown portal.

As far as the rail system goes, it's going to be a major project to 'industrialize' our rail systems and our mines. The main passenger rail system will be the priority though.

Also, there are these new redstone blocks which can act as an alternative to redstone torches, but mainly it'll double as compact storage. We all know how much redstone public storage has and heck, I've got a large chest full of it myself.

Walking (or rather running, to give more of an appearance of randomness) randomly around spawntown, I can certainly do that. I'll be trying to watch the fireworks at the same time as well though.

Can I see the speech or at least see the timing so that I know when to hurry up or when the finale hits (or maybe I'll just spam them when the finale hits).

:At the event. Also, I will probably reserve slots for Smjjames and ****, you two also had fireworks and batteries to launch, correct?:

I don't have a firework battery, but I do have some fireworks that I donated that could be launched individually. For those that are firing individual rockets, it's probably a good idea to have a variety, that way there isn't a bunch of the same color in a row coming from one location.

Well, you should have taken advantage of that before then.

I get the point you're makiing here. Also, maybe you could expand westward? Theres a whole area free for the taking.

Yes, I will do that when the area it used to be has been explored, so I know where to place it.

Where did it used to be? The northwest corner of that selection also needs to be explored a bit anyway.

Heres the ice farm machine that I'm planning on making. It freezes pretty quick, about 5 minutes for most of it to freeze and perhaps 10 for the rest of the way. Even though the tutorial says to use snow, it turns out that wood works just as well against pickaxes with efficiency since that's what people are most likely to use.

I'm planning on maybe spruce wood for the flooring, not sure what I want to use on top of the pistons though. Since it freezes pretty quickly, you can use one while you wait for a second one to freeze.

SuperNova is inactive and probably never coming back so I'm sort of holding Novascotchara until someone (like a new player) wants to take over (parts) of it for development. I've considered getting a corridor between Kaktoland and Jungelot for myself.
Just post your plans and the location then I'll see if they look ok.

I was planning on putting it close to the station entrance somewhere for easy access. I haven't taken a look around the area yet and it'll partially depend on the plans.

Edit: Theres a few good spots very close to the station, so finding a spot shouldn't be an issue.

For spelunking:
Iron armor (full set, repaired if neccesary)
several stacks of torches.
stack of baked potatoes
diamond sword
diamond fortune 3 pick
iron pick and shovel
stack of iron
bed (not always, but useful if I'm spelunking far away)
crafting table
water bucket
stack or two of sticks
wood

when yqt tested the library chunks for corruption the torches did not dissapear but the cobblestone blocks he placed did. in addition the bridge built there afterwards did not dissapear, which might mean that corrupt chunks only will cause a rollback some of the times.

*whacks bong*

Give me some credit will you. :P The cobblestone grid was my idea and I had also tested with torches and that didn't work.

Still though, it was very odd that the torches didn't work because it's a pretty standard way of testing for corrupt chunks.

Kactice Penninsula should be renamed as it's no longer icy, or at least no longer has snow on it.

I picked up the ender pearls and eyes from Spawntown and Blue Bay publics and activated the portal.
Is there any point in activating it now? Unless you want a single person or an unplanned group go in and kill the ender dragon. Its also pretty easy to fall into it by walking on the portal frames.

Overeager bla is overeager, lol.

You could temporarily block it off to keep anybody from accidentially falling in.

I did put a rudimentary storage in the portal room, it just contains random stuff.

For finding the location, see the small brown spot in the southern part of the swamp on the water? That's where the entrance I made is. Also, I secured the area around the entrance underground the best I could, but you know, wait til you see the crazy cave gen down there.

B-ong, they came out with a beta build this morning, so they're working on it. I myself am hoping they get the release build out before New Years (even though there will be 'fake' fireworks in the sky on New Years).

To reiterate what they said, they can't manually update it, clanforge does it automatically, so it's out of Bla's or Yqt's control to do it.

So far, smjjames has credit for finding it. However, Im not super happy about the silver fish spawner being destroyed considering there is only three in the game

I tried to use torches to stop them from spawning and it didn't seem to work for some reason, or maybe there were just lots of them. In any case, I had no idea if they kept spawning or if they were just being hard to kill.

The silverfish spawner doesn't exist anymore because it kept spawning them Tongue

I decided to go spelunking in the area northwest of junglelot for reasons besides the fact that I might stumble onto the stronghold and after a while, I spotted something out of place in the caverns and right there was the stronghold!

Wait, what do witches drop? Potions?

Potion stuff, for each mob killed:

0–6 glass bottle
0-6 glowstone dust
0-6 gunpowder
0-6 redstone dust
0-6 spider eye
0-6 stick
0-6 sugar

Rare drops:
Potion of healing
Potion of fire resistance
Potion of swiftness

Basically every potion ingredient you need other than plants (mushrooms, carrots etc), gold, netherwarts and blaze rods.

I'm pretty excited for this myself. Will be an epic project, and a bajillion times safer than the blaze farm. :P

Safer to construct, yeah. Also, when we crop the map (I'd like to crop out the whole western ocean) for 1.5, maybe we'll get one that is closer in.

Blacraft General / Re: Server Changes

What do you mean by managing plugins? Updating them or what??

That, also dealing with the settings and dealing with any problems they might be causing like the RBS and the corrupted chunk getting created by possibly the protection plugin.

Edit: I mean that the corrupted chunks are being caused by the protection plugin, not the RBS.

As for mapping, Matty's computer has like 16 GB of RAM and he said he is willing to do the mapping.

Also, maybe move this server discussion to a new thread?

Just out of curiosity, how much RAM does your computer have Bla?

THIS.

We're perfectly willing to have one of us take over as the admin for a while. In fact, you asked that a month or so ago, but you changed your mind. People have tried to get you to turn it over to one of us since you're tired of managing it, yet you seem to keep resisting.

Look, all of us get it that you're tired of blacraft, but if you want someone else to be admin or something, just say so. The reason people are asking to have stuff replaced is because the stuff is lost due to some glitch or other.
