« Last post by Bla on 2021 01 03, 14:10:35 »These are some of the solutions I imagined, cyan is ice road and blue is ocean, white arrows are flowing water, so you could have like the upper one where there's just a small segment of ocean that flows down onto the ice road, allowing boats to cross and transfer, which would slow down the ice boat but not a lot as long as you don't have a lot of those segments.
Alternatively you could have something like the bottom where you need to move out of the actual ice road to get to a segment where the water flows down and transfer to the sea. Then sea boats would have to cross the ice segment but ice boats wouldn't have to slow down.

I also imagine that for this to look nice there would need to be some nice support infrastructure built around the ice roads in the ocean as well that separates them from the water. I'm a bit worried if the ice roads would become massive eyesores.
If people prefer elevated ice roads I think we should go for something quite a bit higher than 2 blocks above sea, maybe something like 10. I think that would look nicer, especially for long bridges, that it's not that close to the water, and it wouldn't have to cut as deeply into the land terrain. But I don't know how the boat elevators work or how they depend on the altitude change and that would also be important.
